Last reviewed 2026-07-16. Plain-language summary, not legal advice — always confirm the current rules with the Georgia Board of Accountancy.

How much CPE does a Georgia CPA need?

80/2yr. Here is what Georgia CPAs should know for renewal:

  • Total hours: 80/2yr
  • Reporting cycle: 2 years (biennial)
  • Annual minimum: 20
  • Ethics: 4 hrs/cycle incl 1 hr GA Board laws/rules (state-specific)
  • Renewal timing: Dec 31 odd years
  • Other key rules: 40 hrs technical; up to 15 hrs carryforward; no CPE first year.

Heads up: Georgia requires a state-specific or board-approved ethics course. Make sure your ethics CPE meets Georgia’s exact rule — general ethics may not count.
